State College AAUW Used Book Sale

The State College AAUW Used Book Sale is one of the largest on the East Coast, attracting dealers and private patrons from as far away as Maine, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, New York and Ohio. Last year, more than 9,000 people took advantage of the bargains offered during the 4-day sale.

The 2010 AAUW State College Branch Used Book Sale will be held May 8 – 11, Saturday through Tuesday, at the Snider Agricultural Arena on Penn State’s University Park campus. The doors will open at 9 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. daily.

Monday, May 10th, is Half-Price Day and Tuesday, May 11th, is Bag Day. On Bag Day customers will be able to buy a bag of books for $5.00 – AAUW will supply the bag.

• Check your last receipt to see that point level you are at. See if you are close to the next level to make a small purchase before making your HUGE purchase for big savings!
• Use your free coupons! Pull those FREE coupons and use them for this purchase! You will receive a percentage off for the item you will get FREE after coupon! I did this with Hanover Bean coupons I had been saving. I made .30 off each one.
• Have the cashier ring up your items first, then give her your Club Card, and then ask to redeem your rewards before your coupons! You will receive a percentage off of your purchase price before coupons! I got $7.00 off (add 10% discount) today and only paid $38 due to this method.

They should do this program again in the summer! It is my favorite store deal around!

How to Shop Weis' Sales

I have been reading about this great way to save more at Weis but wanted to try it first before I shared.

When Weis has their Weis Dollar Rewards where you buy so much and get a coupon at checkout (catalina coupon) for $xx of your next purchase, the prices are based on the REGULAR shelf price, not the sale!

For example -

Weis Dollar Rewards - Purchase $20 worth of participating Kelloggs products and receive $7.00 on your next order.

So ...

I purchased 6 boxes of Frosted Flakes (23oz). The shelf price was $3.69/each. The sale price was $2.50/each.

6 boxes @ $3.69 = $22.14 (notice over $20)

- sale price ($7.14)

- coupons (from inside a previous purchase box) of $5.00

= $10 paid out of pocket & received the $7 on your next order coupon!!!

NOTICE - I didn't pay $20 out of pocket for the cereal for the coupon NOR did I pay $15 when using my coupons. I only paid $10 because I purchased enough boxes at regular price to reach the $20 needs for the coupon.

Monarch Cleaners - FREE pick up and drop off!

Recently, I sat down with my schedule and decided what items need to be deleted so I can enjoy the things I love to do. One item I knew I needed to do is stop making so many errands (especially with the kids). One I took off is dropping items off at the dry cleaners. Monarch Cleaners picks up and drops off my dry cleaning FREE! Plus, there is always coupons in the Val-U Paks for $5/$25, etc. AND they bill you at the end of the month. In the Zion area, they pick up on Tuesdays from noon to 2 PM and drop off on Fridays from noon to 2 PM.
