Diapers.com!

Diapers.com: Free Shipping Plus $10 Off!

This works out to be even better than using coupons in store, plus they ship it to your door for FREE in 1-2 days. This scenario is for new customers only, and here’s the deal:

  • Head over to Diapers.com and register for a new account.
  • Add 7 packs of LUVS Jumbo packs to your cart @ $6.99 each (you can buy other brands, too, but this is the best price).
  • Add a small filler item such as Pampers Travel Wipes @ $1.99 to get your total over $49 to qualify for the free shipping.
  • Head to checkout, and enter promo code KFM10 for $10.00 off your order.
  • Your total will be $40.92 with this scenario. Then print and submit this form for a $14.97 rebate (read instructions carefully).
  • Your final total after you receive your rebate (which may take a while) will be $25.95 for 7 packs of diapers and the travel case of wipes!
  • The whole process takes less than 5 minutes, and they even take PayPal.

This is an amazing price per diaper, even without coupons. You could also stock up for future baby showers if you do not have little ones to diaper at home.

Also, Pregnancy Crisis Centers are always in need of diapers, so you could donate a few packs to your local center.

I especially excited about this deal, since I am nearly out of diapers!

Thanks, My Frugal Adventures!

New To Coupons? Great Tip by April!

My friend April has a great website. See posted these tips and I had to share!

Don’t get stressed out if you are just starting. It does take time to get the hang of things, but once you do, it’s so worth it!
Here’s a few tips to get you started:
  • You don’t have to clip every coupon that you see! I did this in the beginning and it was such a waste. Only clip the coupons for the things your family needs, or will need in the future.
  • Stockpile, stockpile, stockpile! I have a pretty decent stockpile started already, and its so nice to go to the panty instead of the grocery store when I need something.
  • Don’t use your coupons as soon as you get them unless it’s something you need or is on sale. A lot of times stores will end up putting things on sale closer to the expiration date.
  • Plan! That’s the biggest thing, it takes time, but it saves you money! Being impulsive when it comes to shopping is never a good thing!
  • Make sure you watch for sales! Combining your coupons with sales can get you free stuff if you plan it well.
  • Check Facebook and other social sites. A lot of companies are using them to get fans and give things away for joining!
  • You can’ t be afraid to try new things. Lots of coupons come out for new items, and you have to be able to give them a try.
  • Make sure you buy more than 1 newspaper a week if you want to start your stockpile. It’s nice to have 4 coupons for toilet paper when it goes on sale so you can stock up.
  • Don’t let the coupons stress you out. I get multiple inserts a week, lately about 5-6…it takes me a while to get them all cut and sorted, but don’t stress if they aren’t done by Sunday night!
  • Check the insides of your boxes before you throw them away. A lot of companies hide coupons inside!
  • Keep your coupons organized when you take them to the store. I have a Nike 3-ring binder that zips around all 4 sides, that way I know I’ll never lose anything. There are also a few extra little attached folders that I keep my extra stuff in, like coupons that are strictly for restaurants, toys stores, things like that. Everyone organizes theirs differently. Mine has the baseball card inserts to hold the coupons. You can pick up a big pack of these at more department stores. I then got tabs for the pages, and sorted them by aisle at the store that I shop at most often. It makes it so nice because I can walk in the front doors and start on the first page, I don’t have to fumble around to find the ones I need for that part of the store.
Thanks April for the great tips!!!

Free Weekly Devotional

A wonderful friend, Nancy Wilson, writes a weekly devotional! This is last weeks:

Three Bean Salad 1-21-2010

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Hebrews 13:2 (NLT)

Three bean salad anyone? Several years ago, a dear lady with whom we were acquainted invited us over for dinner. We arrived on time with our appetite and manners intact and began enjoying the wonderful meal she had prepared – with one exception – the three bean salad. Now some folks really enjoy this colorful dish with the tangy vinegar flavor. Rick and I have very few things that we dislike, but I would have to say that this one probably tops the list. But at the time, we really didn’t know that – until we took the first bite!

We both naively placed a portion on our plates and began eating. I took a bite and looked at Rick. He took a bite and looked at me. Thankfully, our mommas raised us with pretty good manners, so we knew not to spit it out or say anything rude. What should we do? You can push those beans around your plate, but when the table is cleared, it’s still going to be obvious that the beans are still there. So what did we do? We ate our portion and prayed it would stay put! Our kind hostess, noticing something slightly amiss and having a pretty good sense of humor, generously offered us a second helping of her mouth-watering bean salad. We politely declined, indicating we were saving room for dessert.

Hospitality is defined as, “the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way.” Would you classify yourself as a hospitable person? Our friend was very hospitable and we immensely enjoyed dinner at her home in spite of the 3 bean salad. Needless to say, she teased us about that for years.

Hospitality is not always something we do, but it is always something we enjoy when we’re on the receiving end. Scripture instructs us in Romans 12:9-13, “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.” (NLT)

Back when the Scriptures were written, hotels were scarce or unheard of. Restaurants were non-existent. When one traveled, you relied on the generosity of family or strangers.

One great Old Testament story in 1 Kings 17 is about the prophet, Elijah, and the Widow of Zarephath. Scripture does not reveal her name, but it does testify of her generosity. There was a famine in the country, and Elijah, in need of food and lodging, was sent by God to the widow’s home. He asked for food and she was at first reluctant to give what she had left for one more meal for her son and herself. But with Elijah’s urging, she prepared what she had and shared it with God’s man. As the story continues, it is revealed how God miraculously supplied for her family throughout the famine.

Hospitality doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Sometimes it is just a simple meal or a comfortable chair in which to rest. Sometimes it is a drink of water or a door that is opened. I believe though, that the result will be the same – God’s blessings for the provider.

Rick and I always rejoice and are thankful for the generosity shown us so many times as God has provided for us through others. At the same time, we are also thankful for opportunities that we have to share what we have with family, friends, and strangers. We are always richly rewarded with the relationships that are built and strengthened when we show hospitality to those around us.

I encourage you to open your hearts and your homes to “angels” whether they are earthly or heavenly. You never know who it is that you may entertain!

~Nancy

KLove's Encouraging Word

I admit - I have a problem opening up my Bible daily to study God's plan for my life. Its not that I don't want to, its that once I get out of bed, I don't stop! Between dirty diapers, wrestling matches, snack time, to finally getting a shower - my day is gone.

One way that helps me TREMENDOUSLY is KLove's Encouraging Word. Everyday in my email I get a scripture verse. It amazes me how sometimes the scripture is what I need to remind myself of.

Today's verse:

Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.

~ Psalm 16:1, NLT

Easy Money Maker at CVS

Three Simple Steps
  1. Scan your Extra Care Bucks Card at the Coupon Scanner inside CVS (in Bellefonte, PA - its by the greeting cards). You will receive a coupon for $1 off any CVS Pain reliever.
  2. Walk over to the trial sizes and pick up the $.50 CVS Cough drops (I got the cherry flavor).
  3. At check out, you will get a $1.00 off this $.50 item making a $.50 overage!!
I highly suggest using this with another purchase because getting money from the cashier without paying 'anything' won't go over well in some cases. But this is one way to find easy MM (money makers) at CVS!

Hubby did the shopping today!

I am so proud of my husband. After hugging the porcelain throne for the last 36 hours, we were finally human again. But my hubby was brave enough to adverture out to Rite Aid for cat food (totally out - Rocket, our ginger tabby, kept bitting me because I didn't feed her 1st thing in the morning) and diapers (with two under 2, we got through them!). I gave him the coupons and he rocked! $56.90 worth of items for $18.40 which we used on the Rite Aid gift card from transferring a prescription.

So this blog is a "thank you" to him! I love you Rob!

Get the most out of your WIC checks!

Some of us gals qualify for WIC which gives us a great break on milk, fruits and veggies, and lots more. You can get more than what you check states and this is how:

  • 16 oz whole grains - Watch the sale ads for Buy One Get One free deals. Two weeks at Weis, the Arnold breads were BOGO. Arnold 100% Whole Wheat is on the WIC list so I got two loafs instead of one.
  • 1 lb cheese - Weis often puts their own brand block cheese BOGO. Get 2 lbs free instead of one!
  • This week at Giant, I used their coupon for save $2 off $5 any fresh produce. I use this coupon with each $6 check along with adding BOGO on strawberries! I got maximum savings this week!
  • You can use coupons with WIC checks but they aren't valuable to you unless they are BOGO coupons. So keep those $1.00 off Cheerios for another purchase.

20% off Entire Purchase at Michael's

Good for this weekend only!

Free Johnson & Johnson first aid kit to go at Target

Free Johnson & Johnson first aid kit to go at Target

J&J

These to-go kits are currently priced at $0.97 at Target according to Happy Homemaker Cindy. Use the $1 off Johnson & Johnson coupon from the 1/3 Red Plum and you'll be able to get this handy item for free! I'm guessing these would be found in the travel section (generally in Health & Beauty).

Cindy also reports that this is $0.99 at CVS.

I like keeping these kits in my car glove box or diaper bag.

Free Formula

Sam's Club donated 100 packs of infant formula to CYS; each one is a full day's supply. It is Member's Mark powder, which is comparable to either Enfamil Lipil or Good Start Gentle Plus that WIC authorizes. If you can use it or if you know someone that can use it, please contact Lisa Bednarchik at CYS and we'll get it to you. If you contact Lisa, please let her know how many packets you would like. The formula packets expire on 3-12-2010 so we don't want them to go to waste. Below is Lisa's contact information.

Do You Have Any of Those Baby Eistein DVD's?

"Baby Einstein DVDs, which were promoted as educational for babies but recently determined to be not-quite-educational, are going through a PR mess.

They're offering a $15.99 refund no matter the original purchase price on any Baby Einstein DVD purchased between 2004 and Sept 2009.

You just fill out the form on that page and tell them the date that you purchased it, and send in the DVD... up to 4 per household.

But this is only for people who already purchased these DVDs in the past. If you were to buy it today, it wouldn't be honest to list an earlier date on that form. I guess you may have to use your best estimate, if you can't recall exactly.

Offer is valid until March 2010."

Potty Training?

I have decided to put out the potty chair for Robby's to 'play' with for now. With Havyn, she was fascinated with how the lid open and closed, how it played music, etc. instead of 'going' in it. So with Robby, knowing how he works, I put it out so he can take it apart and put it back together many times until he is bored with that part. Then off to potty training we go!

Huggies and Pampers puts out great kits to help encourage you and your child to use the potty. It was the Huggies DVD that encouraged Havyn (the Whoosh Song) and she was good after that!
